Wallace Center Faculty Director Dr. Kim Harley appointed by Governor Newsom

May 7, 2024

Dr. Kim Harley will serve on the Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee (DARTIC) which is the group that decides which chemicals get Prop 65 labels stating that they are "known to the state to cause birth defects or reproductive harm". Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, was enacted as a ballot initiative in November 1986. The proposition protects the state's drinking water sources from being contaminated with chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and requires businesses to inform Californians about exposures to such chemicals.

Dr. Harley has served on this committee since 2017. Click here to learn more.
