This March, Wallace Center Summer 2025 MCAH MPH student interns presented their work at the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) annual conference in Washington, DC.
Students Agere Teshale, Samantha Tapia, Noemi Franco, and Chloe Hood shared projects developed through their placements with Wallace Center partners, highlighting community-based approaches to advancing maternal and child health.
Presentations included work on Beloved Birth Black Centering (Agere Teshale) and Spanish Centering (Samantha Tapia and Noemi Franco) in partnership with Alameda Health System at Highland Hospital. These programs show how culturally grounded, community-informed care can improve perinatal outcomes and patient experiences. Chloe Hood presented her work exploring opportunities to integrate public health and midwifery education to strengthen the maternal health workforce.
Beyond presenting, students connected with practitioners, researchers, and policymakers from across the country, contributing to conversations on innovation, equity, and the future of maternal health.
The Wallace Center’s presence at AMCHP reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting students and advancing community-driven solutions in maternal and child health.
