The UC Berkeley School of Public Health recently highlighted our partnership with Beloved Birth Black Centering, a community-centered prenatal care model based at Highland Hospital in Oakland.
As the program’s research and evaluation partner, the Wallace Center has supported Beloved since 2020, through mixed-methods evaluation, including participant interviews and tracking maternal and infant outcomes. Recent findings from the 2024 annual report show lower rates of preterm birth and low birth weight among babies born within the program compared to those born outside the program but within Alameda Health System.
The feature underscores the Wallace Center’s leadership in evaluating and strengthening Beloved Birth through community-engaged research designed to advance birth equity in Alameda County.
